Bad us, bad bad bad us. Ahhhh, sorry we haven’t been posting anything lately. We are such terrible bloggers. You are free to yell at us from the comments. I already punished myself from not eating another slice of this wondrous cake.
Mmmm, this cake is WONDROUS . Its like floating on clouds. The frosting is delicately light, sweet, and simple; with good ‘ole chunks of chocolate Oreos in it. Just top the cake with a buttery chocolate glaze and its a masterpiece. Since we are lazy bakers and cooks, we used a box-cake mix. Still turned out extra fine, and fluffy. . . and delicious. We actually suck at frosting (I know, shocker! 😉 ) but this frosting and cake was like heaven, dreams, and stuff. The frosting was so easy to spread across the cake, and it was easy to make! Cuire au four de suite!
1pkg. (2-layer size) chocolate cake mix
1/2 of a cup of Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
1/4 cup butter
1 pkg. (8 oz.) PHILADELPHIA Cream Cheese, softened
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups COOL WHIP Whipped Topping, thawed
16 OREO Cookies, coarsely crushed
HEAT: oven to 350ºF.
PREPARE: cake batter and bake in 2 (9-inch) round pans as directed on package. Cool cakes in pans 10 min. Invert onto wire racks; gently remove pans. Cool cakes completely.
MICROWAVE chocolate and butter in small microwaveable bowl on HIGH 2 min. or until butter is melted. Stir until chocolate is completely melted. Cool 5 min. Meanwhile, beat cream cheese and sugar in large bowl with mixer until blended. Gently stir in COOL WHIP and crushed cookies.
PLACE 1 cake layer on plate, spread with cream cheese mixture. Top with remaining cake layer. Refrigerate for 20 minutes. Spread top with chocolate glaze; let stand 10 min. or until firm. Keep refrigerated.
This awesome, delicious Oreo Cake was actually my cousin’s 10th Birthday Cake. So, Happy Belated
Birthday, you rascal! He’s double digits now, so proud! 🙂
